Current Roster

Please meet the 2007-08 Upper Arlington Bantam Bears!

This year’s team is composed of 13 eight graders, 9 of whom are returning Bears, 4 seventh graders, and 2 “red shirt” sixth graders.

Ben Armstrong #88

I’m in 8th grade at Jones and have been playing hockey since 2nd grade. I was out for a year after I tore my ACL. I also play football, so I guess my theme is wearing lots of padding and hitting people. I also like to play Halo 3 on XBox 360 and watch The Office. I am an A student, like to travel, and aspire to be a pyro-technician so I can get paid to play with fire.

Hans Aschinger #15

I’m Hans Aschinger. I play defense on the UA Bantam Hockey team.   I am 6' 4" and weigh in at 211 pounds. Currently, I am single and ready to mingle. Enough about me and my needs here is some cool stuff about our hockey team. Our head coach’s name is Sam and our assistant coach’s name is Jon. This year our team is really doing well. GO BEARS!!!!!

and we hope to keep up our winning streak. GO BEARS!!!!!

Byron Bruno #45

Hi I’m Byron B.  I like to play hockey, cross-country, track and field and sometimes two-hand touch football with my friends. I’m 14 years old and go to Jones Middle School. The best thing about hockey is when you score a goal, it gets you fired up and it gets the adrenaline going! This is my last year playing for the Bantam Bears, but before I go….. remember “We are… UA!”

Evan Cleary #11

My name's Evan Cleary, and I'm 14 years old. I go to St. Andrew in Upper Arlington, and think hockey is sweet. If I'm not on the ice, I'm on the football field or watching football. History is probably the greatest subject ever, and South Park is the best TV show on these days. Hope you enjoyed my bio.

Max Collins #19

Hi, my name is Max.  I'm 13 years old, play right wing, and my goal is to be an impact player.

I am the heir to the Hadley fortune and my family has a total of 16 getaway resorts around the world.  I am currently single as well.

Austin Horner #2

My name is Austin Horner, and I am one of 5 children in my family. Some people think that the impossible happened with our family. I have one older brother named Cameron, he is 17. He is a twin with my sister Natalie who is of course 17. Here comes the crazy part, I am a triplet with my two sisters, Madelyn and Olivia, and we are all 13. There is always company at our house and I love my family. My favorite sports are of course Hockey even though it is my first official year, lacrosse and football. I love them all.

Paul Linville #12

Hey, I'm Paul Linville and I play for the Upper Arlington bantam hockey team. I was born in St. Paul Minnesota. That's how I got the name Paul. Hockey is pretty big up there in the winter. Well, it's pretty big up there all year around. I was born December 31, 1994. I am the youngest kid in the bantam league because I'm a 1994 by 1 day. I think it's fun playing with kids who are older than me. I played in my first roller hockey league when I was 7. By the time I was 8, I was on a travel roller hockey team. In the summer of 2003 we went to the Junior Olympics in Detroit, Michigan and placed 2nd in the country. It was really exciting. I then started playing ice hockey and am now playing my 5th year. I also like to play the drums and ski.

Preston McKee #13

Hi, my name is Preston McKee.  I am an eight grade student at Jones Middle School.  The sports I play are golf, basketball, football, and hockey.  I am 5’2”, 98lbs.  I have 2 sisters, 2 dogs, 2 ferrets, 2 bunnies, 1 rat, and some fish.  In my free time I like to play NCAA 2008 and any kind of sport outside.

Connor Roe #4

I’m Connor the Center.  I was born on December 12, 1993 in Cincinnati, OH.  This is my 2nd year on the UA Bantam Bears and 7th year playing hockey.  I haven’t been drafted into the NHL yet, but I do shoot right and I’m “about” 6’4”. My hobbies are: Hockey, Hockey, Hockey, boating, hiking, fishing.  I like Country and Classic Rock music, The Bourne Identity, Saving Private Ryan, the Office, JAG, and 24.

Sam Stephenson #6

I would have a cool bio up like everyone else, but I don’t know my ABC’s.

Zac Stowe #31

I am the goalie and have been playing ice hockey for five seasons. I like the competition and making new friends.  Hockey has allowed me to meet all types of people from all over the city.  The last two seasons I played within the CAHA Capitals organization.  I don't miss the travel to Cleveland but I did like eating out and staying in hotels.  I am getting to know my new teammates and look forward to a great season. Some of my other interests include school, lacrosse, football and playing with his friends.

Tyler Swanson #61

Although my parents named me Tyler, I feel that my true name is Mark Jazz (while my gamer tag is JAZZ HANDS65).  I generally reside in the man cave, a.k.a. my mom’s basement.  Some of my hobbies are W.O.W. (world of warcraft), hacking the Pentagon’s official database and changing my occupation to “Ruler of Mankind,” changing things on Wikipedia, making robots, and playing HALO 1, 2, and 3 (I uber pown noobs).  My favorite sports include W.O.W. (some people don’t consider it a sport, but I do), Robot Wars, and Aggressive Microwaving.  I love Pizza Bagels, Hot Pockets, and pie.  I’ve never had a girlfriend, but hope to someday.  My most memorable experience was when I reached level 78 on W.O.W. and found out I didn’t have carpal tunnel syndrome.

Evan Westfall #5

I'm Evan Westfall.  People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late.  I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.  This is my 7th year playing hockey.

Connor Miles #22

I would have a cool bio up like everyone else, but I don’t know my ABC’s.

Coaches

Jonathan Wehr - Assistant Coach

I am also excited to be a part of the team this year.  I am looking forward to a good competitive season.  I have played competitive hockey for 20(or more) years.  Growing up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan was an awesome experience, where I played for the CCJHA up till High School.  I have been active in athletics all my life, participating in Hockey, Cross Country, Track and Field and Rugby to name a few.

I attended Michigan Tech University, in the Mechanical Engineering curriculum.  While there I started teaching power skating to the local youth hockey teams.

After leaving college I moved to Cleveland, OH, to work for an Audio Visual company (where I am currently employed) SoundCom Systems.  While there I enjoyed coaching the Midget Junior Lumberjacks, and continued to teach power skating to beginning skaters.

As does Sam, I continue to play hockey in the Columbus adult hockey leagues, I enjoy skiing and other winter sports.

Samir Dahman - Head Coach

Samir is excited to be returning for his 2nd season coaching the Bantam Bears.  He grew up playing hockey in Kalamazoo, Michigan as a goalie.  In high school, Samir played four years of varsity hockey and was
